Every year New York City sets the fall trends during their annual Fashion Week. Sadly, most of the designs we covet on the runway are from famous designer stores, which tend to be highly pricey and unaffordable for many.
Luckily, once these fashion trends become popular many lower-priced versions of the same piece of clothing will come up. In downtown Fargo and Moorhead we have an abundance of boutiques that carry the fall fashion items we desire, at affordable prices we love.

What to look for this fall
Now before the shopping begins, make sure to be aware of what is in style for fall. Typically one would be attracted to the neutral colors like the browns, beige and some may get a little wild a go for burgundy, but according to Teresa O’Day, the owner of Proper and Prim, the fall colors are going in a whole other direction this year.
“Neon’s are really in style this fall,” O’Day explains “and studs, too.”
Glenda Haugen, owner of My Best Friend’s Closet, recently got back to Moorhead after scoping out fashion in Chicago. Here is a list of what Haugen says to look for when looking for fall clothing:
- Colors: black, gray and brown
- Add a bit of sparkle: add a sequined shirt beneath a blouse or blazer
- Mix patterns
- Long jackets such as, trench coats
- Long scarves
- Accents of fur
- Lots of bangles
