There have been many changes to downtown Fargo in the last year and a half. New businesses have opened up and old favorites have closed. For the beer, wine, and cider lovers in town Front Street has not only thrived, but they are expanding.
Front Street has been open for a year and a half and they reside in the old, One World Imports, storefront on Main Avenue.
The expansion to the basement is one that came quickly and with little warning, but boy have they taken hold of the reins.
In the basement of Front Street, The Cellar, is having their grand opening April 26th. There will be live music, free appetizers, and Foosball league. Not to mention dranks!
If you have been paying any attention to their social media you will notice many event have been happening down there already. From comedy shows
to Thursday night Foosball league and house parties with local DJs!
Starting at 6pm every Thursday you can grab a beer, wine, or cider, and head down to the cellar and participate in a free foosball league.
“There have been 12-15 players every week, which is a good number, so everybody gets to play a good amount,” said General Manager Aaron Templin.
Originally the “House of Foos” began at Templin’s friend Ryan’s house. “That is where we came up with the rules,” said Templin. Because only four people were able to play at a time they came up with the rule, three strikes you’re in.
Everybody who is eligible to play draws a card from a typical deck of cards and you play for points. So, the two highest cards drawn will play again the previous winners, because naturally everyone would play a round to see where they are sitting for tournament.
This is a unique way to bring a fun game to an already hip location. “We would play foosball every Thursday and it was getting too much for Ryan to throw a tournament weekly,” said Templin. So they decided to move the tournament to The Cellar, and include anyone who is willing to participate.
“I’ll wear my cleanest dirtiest shirt,” said Shane Butler, foosball regular and enthusiast.
Foosball leagues in The Cellar is in its infancy but the steam is picking up with more people showing up every week. If you have never played the game or you are a pro, everyone is welcome, as long as you have fun, thats the main goal.
If you are a fan of the rustic yet elegant stylings of Front Street, you can expect to see that same theme reach the basement. You wont get the natural sunlight that beams through the front windows but you will find a new and comfortable environment.
Check out their Facebook for more information happening in The Cellar, and get your foosball on every Thursday from 6-9pm.
